The company

The FISLAGE Group is a medium-sized family business with decades of experience in the finishing of web-guiding products. With the start of crepe paper production in the early 1960s, a new demand for functionalized and easy-to-handle paper products for packaging was met. Six decades and many developments and innovations later, a comprehensive, internationally recognized product range is now available for a wide range of applications.

At our sites in Hörstel and Merseburg, we use various technologies to produce composite materials with a wide range of structures. We use basic products that sustainably guarantee the required functions of the end product. Where possible, base materials are used that are made from renewable raw materials and meet sustainability criteria. However, if the required properties are not achieved, substrates are used whose environmental balance is not yet at the desired level. This means that FISLAGE products meet the requirements of our quality and environmentally conscious processors, retailers and end consumers alike.

Our history

Founded in 1923

Through Mrs. Elisabeth FISLAGE, initially as a paper and packaging materials trading company.

Development 1961-1974

In 1961, the first creping machine is installed and the company moves into a production hall in Hörstel. In 1971/74, the company invests in another creping machine and an extrusion coating line. In 1973, the new production and storage halls were built at the current site in Merseburg

Extrusion coating 1975

Commissioning of an extrusion coating plant in Merseburg for the production of consumer goods for the GDR

Disposal 1980-1990

In 1980, Mrs. Elisabeth FISLAGE leaves the company and the management of the company is taken over by Mr. Karl-Heinz and Mr. Werner FISLAGE.

As there is no suitable successor in the FISLAGE family to manage the company, the company is sold to Harpener AG in Dortmund in 1988, which in turn sells its shares to Wanderer-Werke AG in Augsburg in 1990.

Foundation Merseburg 1991

In 1991, Merseburger Verpackung GmbH is founded in Merseburg in Saxony-Anhalt, initially as a joint venture with two other partners; however, these partners leave the company in the following years – since 1994, FISLAGE Flexibles has been the sole shareholder of Merseburger Verpackung GmbH.

Expansion of the FISLAGE Group 1996

In 1996, C. F. Wachendorff GmbH & Co. in Bergisch Gladbach is assigned to the FISLAGE Group, whose production facility in Bergisch Gladbach is closed in 2003.

Since then, the FISLAGE Group has had four creping machines and four extrusion coating lines as well as a dispersion coating line at two production sites in Hörstel and Merseburg. In addition, there are various finishing machines such as narrow and short roll winders, various rewinders and also format cutters.

Expansion and certification 1997

Construction of a second extrusion coating and laminating line in Merseburg and certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001 in Merseburg

Certification 2010 (HACCP)

HACCP hygiene management certification in accordance with the guidelines of the Codex Alimentarius Commission

Management Buy Out 2010

In 2010, Fislage Flexibles was spun off from the Wanderer Group as part of a management buy-out.

Development 2012-2015

2012 Certification according to the FSC Chain of Custody standard for both companies followed in 2016 by the construction of the multifunctional “Princess” coating and laminating line.

2019 Commissioning of the “Easy Inspect” high-performance inspection system

Expansion 2016

Introduction of Princess and Rollo and expansion of the portfolio to include glue lamination and extrusion coating

Growth 2022

Acquisition of further warehouses with administrative space
